Serums have become a staple in our skincare routine. If you use one, perfect. If not, then I suggest that you continue reading. First of all, and most importantly, they contain a higher concentration of active ingredients that penetrate the skin at a deeper level than your average moisturiser due to the fact that the molecules are smaller. So, all those lovely little nutrients, minerals and vitamins that our skin craves are more easily absorbed into the skin.
While other face creams contain only 5 to 10 per cent of active ingredients, a face serum can contain up to 70 per cent!
If that didn’t win you over, then this might. Serums are able to target specific skin concerns that other products can’t. Trust me when I say that there is a serum out there for every problem. These issues include dullness, dryness, pigmentation, acne… The list goes on and on. Ageing is without a doubt the most common issue that people try to prevent or correct. I won’t lie and say that serums stop ageing in its tracks, but they can definitely help.
So, when can they be used? Serums can be used day and night (unless specified otherwise). Make sure your skin is clean with no other product on it (unless you’re one of those people that enjoy using a toner). Apply a small amount to the face and neck and then follow with your moisturiser. It may sound like serums are miracle products but you do actually need to follow it with a moisturiser. Serums can hydrate your skin to a certain extent, but that job is usually left to your moisturiser.
You’ll save money.
But wait, we hear you saying. Serums are more expensive than any other skincare product. How will that save me money?
Simple: if you invest in a good serum, you’ll actually have something that works. No more wasting money on multiple products that are just ok, or that you think might be working; a great serum is actually going to give you visible results.
It all comes down to what you’d rather spend money on: five cheaper products that take up space on your shelf and do nothing for your skin, or one product that does amazing things and costs a little more. Trust us: once you find your perfect serum, you’ll never waste your dollars on anything else again.
Skin Physics new OXYGEN-C Super Serum is the perfect example of an anti-ageing serum that can be easily added to any skin routine. Its main benefit is its ability to counteract all the visible signs of ageing which includes wrinkles/lines, dryness, rough skin, uneven tone, dullness, dark spots, redness and sagging. It is all because it contains an award winning powerful active called Wild Indigo, which is clinically proven to reduce and protect the effects of cortisol-related stress in your skin (which causes wrinkles, dryness, dullness and more) as well as environmental stress, leaving your skin healthier and happier. Plus it contains Snake Flower which has been shown to reduces wrinkles up to 138%. So while one active protects you from stress damage, the other reverses it, pretty clever hey? Shop it here.
